After installing the 3Connect update from “3” to my mobile broadband last night I, of course, wanted to recheck the excessive logging issue previously mentioned on this blog.
This is what I did:
- Shut down 3Connect 2.0.
- Removed the registry key, that fixed the problem in the former edition of 3Connect.
- Started 3Connect 2.0 and went online.
- Started Process Monitor and checked the output. The excessive logging was showing in the output of Process Monitor.
- Check the directory in which the logfile resides. I could see, that the logfile size changed every second (or so).
Conclusion this far: The logging issue is still alive and well even in 3Connect 2.0. Makes me a bit sad since I have contacted Birdstep and 3 with this issue, but I guess I have to push the “news” again.
Then I did this:
- Shut down 3Connect 2.0 again.
- Inserted the registry key that fixes the excessive logging.
- Started 3Connect 2.0 and went online.
- Checked Process Monitor again. No excessive logging in the output.
- Checked the directory again. The file size was no longer updating every second.
Conclusion hereafter: The fix works for 3Connect 2.0! Phew!

Cheers!
