Mobile broadband data usage

To give you an insight on how much data usage a mobile broadband user can have, I hereby give you access to my data usage statistics. This can be useful for you if you consider buying mobile broadband, but don't really have a feel for how much the limits the carriers might have will mean for you.

The data usage information is taken from 3Connect’s statistics function

Get smart on the different kinds of internet media and the amount of data transfer they’ll require (nice to know if you’re on a mobile broadband plan with a fixed upper limit).

Check this page regularly or check out the blog RSS - I'll update every month.

About my usage pattern
* I only use mobile broadband at home. I have no land based broadband.
* I have a girlfriend abroad (the best!), and therefore I have several web cam conversations via Skype every month.
* I have a an online backup solution at Mozy, whereto I backup many files including pictures.
* I listen to online radio via my mobile broadband.
* Basically I'm a techy kind of guy, and i'm online quite a lot, however with no requirement of having home servers being online 24h around the clock.
* I do not download torrents and similar stuff (which means that I don't have such data need).
* I work from home via GoToMyPC, which means data traffic to transfer the image from the office computer to my computer.

Write me a note if you have any questions.

I love mobile broadband!

I am an independent mobile broadband enthusiast. I find the mobile broadband business and related products very interesting, especially in the perspective of how usage of mobile broadband will change our work life and our social life

SPECIAL FEATURES: If you're a 3 user you should definitely read my blog post about 3Connects excessive logging that slows your computer down and what you can do to remove it. The O2 image compression is covered. Latest is the Apple Snow Leopard incompatibility with mobile broadband connetion clients. It's all here in this blog. And of course, there are plenty of other mobile broadband posts are available as well.

When not blogging about mobile broadband I work as a software developer and architect. You'll find my personal blog here: http://www.christer.dk/

Enjoy!
